LIQUOR ENFORCEMENT SUCCESSFUL THIS WEEKEND
(9/25/2006) NEW HAVEN – On Saturday, 23 September 2006, members of the State of Connecticut Liquor Control Division joined members of NHPD’s Family Services Division to conduct checks of package stores as well as grocery stores with beer and liquor permits. The checks were conducted with specially-trained underage youth who attempted to purchase alcohol from these establishments. Of the 60 locations visited by the team on Saturday, 14 locations sold to the underage agents.
Sergeant Ricardo Rodriguez, supervisor of Youth Oriented Policing in the Family Services Division, “We are very concerned about the affects of alcohol on our young people, so we really appreciate the compliance of these stores and the cooperation of the merchants. It’s important that the agents from State Liquor Control continue to work with us to enforce these laws.”
